Crew Finishes 15th at Head of the Charles

Northampton, MA: The Smith crew finished 15th at the 2008 Head of the Charles today in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Competing in the collegiate women's eight division, the Pioneers varsity eight finished 15th out of 34 teams with a time of 18:28:54. Coxswain Danielle Covatta (Accomac, VA) coxed an excellent race avoiding collisions on a course laden with white caps. 

The collegiate women's eight race featured 2008 national eight champion Trinity as well as NEWMAC rivals US Coast Guard, Mount Holyoke, and Wellesley. Smith improved on its earlier performance at the Riverfront Regatta, by beating Mount Holyoke who previously beaten them. The Pioneers still trail Wellesley College, who they race next week, by eight seconds.

Crew concludes its fall season October 26th as they travel to Bryn Mawr for the Seven Sisters Championship.
