ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships Races Cancelled
Northampton, MA: Windy conditions forced the cancellation of afternoon races today at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) National Invitational Rowing Championships held on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
The varsity eight raced yesterday in one of four heats and in its heat, finished second (7:01.23) behind Williams (6:36.79) and ahead of Simmons (7:08.50), Washington College (7:11.94) and Hamilton (7:35.51). This morning, they place third (6:48.626) in their semifinal in a close race with Ithaca (6:44.95), Bates (6:48.336), Mount Holyoke (6:49.091), the College of Holy Cross (7:00.627) and William Smith (7:02.667). Their time in the semifinals was the sixth overall fastest and they would have raced in the grand final this afternoon.
The second varsity eight finished second (7:03.540) in its heat behind Ithaca (7:01.249) and ahead of Trinity (7:07.088), Wellesley (7:14.389) and Washington College (7:43.568). Their time was teh fifth overall fastest and they too would have raced in the grand final.
The novice eight also would have competed in their grand final after registering the fourth overall fastest time. The boat finished second in its heat (7:42.871) behind Ithaca (7:32.568) and ahead of Union (7:44.323), Mount Holyoke (7:49.675) and William Smith (7:50.782).
The third varsity eight had the ninth overall fastest time and would have raced in the petite final this afternoon. The boat placed 5th (8:09.395) in its heat behind Williams (7:14.537), Trinity (7:28.492), the College of Holy Cross (7:47.903) and Mount Holyoke (7:59.505).
