Crew Races Against Holy Cross & Radcliffe

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers raced against Holy Cross and Radcliffe today on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The varsity 8 (coxswain Dani Covatta [Accomac, VA], Katherine von Herrmann (Piedmont, CA), Chantel Pheiffer (Baltic, CT), Gabriela Kubik (White Bear Lake, MN), Eliza van Lennep (Rindge, NH), Lela Schlenker (Norwich, VT), Eliza Bryant (East Greenwich, RI), Marie Fatima Santos (Suffield, CT) and Kathryn Johnson (Roslindale, MA) placed third in 6:43 behind Radcliffe Lightweight (6:35) and Holy Cross (6:39).  The second varsity eight (Mandi Taus, Wellesley, MA), Amy Shmania (Chapel Hill, NC), Colleen Clark (Chapel Hill, NC), Margaret Woodman-Russell (Ipswich, MA), Catherine Davie (Little Rock, AR), Elaine Machietto (Southwick, MA), Cassie MacColl (Northampton, MA), Chelsea Andrews (Norwich, CT) and Simone D'Abreu (Queens Village, NY) raced to third in 7:36.8 behind Holy Cross (7:23) and Radcliffe (7:29.1).  Coxswain Caitlin Eisenberg (Boston, MA), Hanna Pearce (East Albany, VT), Nora Leitermann (Hamden, CT), Hillary Knight-Mitchell (Cumberland, ME), MacKenzie Clark (Rochester, MN), Emily Naumberg (Columbia, MD), Rafi Carlisle-Swedberg (Brookline, MA), Alissa Ortman (Westerville, OH) and Kirby Russell (Yorktown Heights, NY) comprised the third varsity eight that won its race in 7:47 defeating Holy Cross (7:47.5).  The novice eight crew finished second in 7:23 behind Radcliffe 7:22 and ahead of Holy Cross 7:29 and the Smith B boat (7:38). Sarah Rothstein (Easton, MA) coxed the "A" boat with Robin Spencer (Strafford, VT) in seat 8, Margaret Harpin (Boxford, MA) in 7, Ashley Niles (Colrain, MA) in 6, Dara Benton (Baltimore, MD) in 5, Lorna Pyle (San Francisco, CA) in 4, Lydia Bussiere (South Hadley, MA) in 3, Eve Hunter (Hebron, MD) in 2 and Danielle Shelton (Waukesha, WI) in seat 1. The "b" boat was comprised of Jayna Shea (Beverly, MA), Nelya Lashtur (Huntington, MA), Clare Landefeld (Tiburon, CA), Karin Bouche (Pleasanton, CA), Christina Johns (South Portland, ME), Lara Habel (Gainesville, VA), Esther Mobley (Newton, MA), Kat Miller (Falmouth, ME) and Vilma Reyes (West Palm Beach, FL).

The crew team will race again next Saturday against WPI, Colby and Wesleyan in Worcester.
