MIT Defends Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Tournament Championship
Northampton, MA: In the final day of the Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Tournament, MIT defeated Williams College 3-0 (30-26, 30-25, 30-28), to be crowned defending champions.
In the championship match, the Engineers of MIT were led offensively by Katie Rowe (Los Alamitos, CA) who compiled 12 kills in addition to 2 service aces. Rowe also contributed defensively with 5 blocks. Amanda Morris (N. Potomac, MD), who was named Tournament MVP, was strong offensively, finishing with 34 assists. Jenny Li (Ellicott City, MD) finished the night with 12 kills. Defensively, Barden Cleeland (Irvine, CA) turned in a solid performance with 5 blocks. Carrie Buchanan (Carthage,TX) also shined on defensive with 25 digs.
For the runners-up, Williams College, Melissa Pun (San Francisco, CA) turned in a solid defensive performance with 11 kills. While Emily Avis (Palo Alto, CA) compiled 26 digs to go along with 33 assists in a well rounded effort for the Ephs.
