Track & Field Competes at Mount Holyoke Invitational

Northampton, MA: Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) and Shakwana Etienne (West Orange, NJ) as well as the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams won their events today at the non-team scoring Mount Holyoke Invitational.

Grover-Silva won the pole vault with a height of 3.35m, finished 4th in the 200m (28.63) and was a member of the 4x100m relay team while Etienne finished first in the shot put with a distance of 10.35m, 7th in the hammer (20.99m) and 11th in the discus (23.11m). Other members of the 4x100m relay were Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) who also placed second in the 100m dash (13.12), third in the 200m (27.47) and second in the long jump (4.68m); Uzuri Sims (San Diego, CA) who finished 5th in the 200m (28.66), 4th in the 400m hurdles (1:18.64), and was a member of the 4x400m relay; and Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ) who was 3rd in the 400m (1:05.34), 7th in the 200m (29.21) and was a member of the 4x400m relay. The remaining members of the 4x400m relay were Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) who placed 2nd in the 400m (1:04.49) and 3rd in the triple jump (9.56m) and Hailey Bird (Salt Lake City, UT) who finished 10th in the 200m (31.15) and 8th in the 100m (15.03). Other top ten performances were given by first year Catherine McGuinness (Fairfax, VT) who placed 3rd in the discus (27.96m), 4th in the javelin (20.09m), and 5th in both the shot put (9.16m) and hammer throw (29.79m); Elizabeth Isenstein (Deerfield, MA) with a 3rd in the javelin (27.94m) and 10th in hammer (18.32m); Yelihan Fofana (London, England) 7th in the 100m (14.82); Leonora Pepper (Arlington, MA), 9th in the 1500m (5:46.19) and Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, CT) with a second place finish in the 5000m run (19:41).

The Pioneers will compete again next weekend at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational.
