Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Trinity

Northampton, MA: Sophomore Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) won the pole vault and junior Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) had four top five performances this afternoon at the Trinity College "Bantam" Invitational.

Grover-Silva took first with a height of 3.35m/10' 11 3/4" while Edwards was 4th in the long jump (4.60m/15' 1 1/4"); 4th in the 100m dash (13.44); 5th in the 200m dash (27.84) and was a member of the 4x100m relay that finished second in 54.44. Sophomore Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) jumped 9.45m/31' to take second in the triple jump and was 6th in the long jump (4.52/14'10). First year Catherine MCGuinness (Fairfax, VT) finished second in the hammer (30.88m/101'4"); 9th in the shot (9.59m/31'5 3/4"); 12th in the javelin (21.75/71'4) and 14th in the discus (20.64/67'8). Classmate Shakwana Etienne (West Orange, NJ) placed 7th in the shot (10.35/33'11 1/2"); 10th in discus (22.89/75'1) and 13th in the javelin (17.95/58'11) while Elizabeth Isenstein (Deerfield, MA) finished 7th in the javelin with a throw of 27.27/89'6.  In the distance events, sophomore Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA) was 4th in the 1500m (5:00.21) while Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA) and Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, CT) finished 10th (19:49.78) and 13th (20:07.78) respectively in the 5000m run.
