Grover-Silva Ranked 6th Heading into NCAA Championships

Northampton, MA: Smith sophomore Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) took first at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this weekend at Harvard University.

Shattering her previous Smith record of 11'6 1/4" with a jump of 3.72m (12'2 1'2"), Grover-Silva moves from 15th in the NCAA Division III Track & Field rankings to 6th place, assuring her of a spot in the NCAA Championships next weekend at Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio. Grover-Silva becomes the first jumper in Smith history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the pole vault. She will compete next Saturday at 1 pm at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.   

Also participating in ECACs for Smith was Jasmine Liverpool '10 (Brooklyn, NY) in the long jump. Liverpool recorded a jump of 15'2". The Poineer's 4x200 relay team, consisting of Claire Edwards '09 (Klamath Falls, OR), Liverpool, Alina Ainyette '09 (South Orange, NJ), and Grover-Silva also competed this weekend.
