Smith Track has Three Qualify for Division III New England Championships
Northampton, MA: The Pioneers had three individuals qualify for the Division III New England Championships with their performances today at the MIT Invitational.
Claire Edwards '09 (Klamath Falls, OR) placed 5th in the 55 m dash with a time of 7.71. Edwards also placed 5th in the 200 m dash with a time of 27.54 sec. Both times qualified Edwards for New Englands.
In the 400 m run Alina Ainyette '09 (South Orange, NJ) and Jasmine Liverpool '10 (Brooklyn, NY) finished 5th and 6th with times of 1:03.43 and 1:03.49 respectively. With these finishes both Ainyette and Liverpool qualify for New Englands.
Liverpool also qualified for New Englands in the long jump placing 3rd with a jump of 4.76 m. Edwards finished 5th at 4.65 m.
In the mile run Allison Cloutier '08 (East Hampton, CT) finished in 8th with a time of 5:43. Chelsea Andrews '11 (Bangor, ME) finished 8th in the high jump at 1.37 m, while Liverpool placed 8th in the triple jump at 9.62 m.
In the 4x200 relay Smith placed 2nd with a time of 1:54.82. Running for the Pioneers was Ainyette, Edwards, Liverpool, and Valerie Driscoll '10 (Keene, NH).
Smith will host the Division III New England Championships next Saturday, February 23rd at 10 am.
