Etta Grover-Silva Wins Pole Vault at Wesleyan Invitational

Northampton, MA: Sophomore Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA)won the pole vault today at the Wesleyan Invitational with a vault of 3.20 meters. She also placed 10th in the 200m with a time of 28.99.

Other top ten performances for the Pioneers were given by junior Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) who  took 5th in the 200m (28.25), 7th in the 55m dash (7.76) and seventh in the long jump (4.73m). Sophomore Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) placed 7th in the 500m in 1:25.01 while Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, CT) and Adrienne Purdy (Drexel Hill, PA) finished 4th and 10th respectively with times of 11:30.90 and 12:20.09 in the 3,000 meters.  First year Catherine McGuinness (Fairfax, VT) rounded out the top ten finishes for Smith with a throw of 9.55m in the shot put.

The Pioneers will travel to the University of Southern Maine next Saturday for a 1 pm meet before returning home to host the Smith Tartan Invitational on February 9th at 10 am.
