Smith Tennis Competes in NEWITT

Northampton, MA: Over the weekend Smith tennis players Catherine Lydecker '08 (Conway, NH)and Alanna Dick '10 (Winthrop, ME) advanced to the NEWITT quarterfinals, while teammates Seiko Fujii '08 (Aichi, Japan) and Nikki Anderson '11 (Sherborn, MA) played through the round of 16.

At #3 singles Fujii fell to Jaqueline Shen of Wellesley 6-1, 6-2.  Lydecker lost in the quarterfinals to Monica Snyder of Amherst 6-1, 6-0 at the #4 spot.  At #5 singles Anderson took on Mackenzie Gallegos of Brandeis losing 6-0, 6-0.  Dick matched up against Jen Murphy of Amherst at #6 singles losing 6-0, 6-0. 

Smith tennis will be back in action in the NEWMAC championship Saturday, October 27th at 9:30 am at Babson.  As 4th seed Smith will take on 5th seed Wheaton.  Semi-final action will take place at 2pm Saturday  at Wellesley.
