Smith Tennis Sweeps Clark 9-0

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers of Smith registered their second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)win this afternoon as they defeated the Clark Cougars 9-0. With the victory, Smith improved to 2-3 overall and in conference play while Clark fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Sophomore Miyu Kikuchi (Tokyo, Japan) led off the Pioneers sweep with a win at number one singles and then teamed up with doubles partner Diana Fiumefreddo (Winchester, VA) and defeated Mika Sneddon (Weston, CT) and Freddie Palmer (Newton, MA) 8-1. Senior Catherine Lydecker (Conway, NH) and Alanna Dick (Winthrop, ME) didn't give up a point in their 8-0 defeat of Kristen Domurad (Merrimack, NH) and Phoebe Livingston (Jamestown, RI) at second doubles while Jacqueline Sager (Nantucket, MA) and Margaret Steiner (Madison, CT) took the third doubles match 8-1.

The Pioneers continue NEWMAC competition this weekend when they host Wheaton College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
