Tennis Players Compete in ITA

Northampton, MA: First year Diana Fiumefreddo (Winchester, VA)and teammate Catherine Lydecker (Conway, NH)competed this weekend at the Division III ITA New England Region Championships hosted by MIT.

In singles competition, Lydecker defeated Danielle Coleman of Connecticut College 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 but lost to Laken King from Amherst 6-0, 6-1 in the second round. Fiumefreddo lost in the first round to Mariah Hoover of MIT 2-6, 2-6 that put her into the consolation bracket where she defeated Jillian Steckloff of Trinity 7-5, 6-1 and then bowed to Cecilia Grissa of Bates 2-6,6-2, 3-10.

In doubles play, Lydecker and Fiumefreddo teamed up but lost 2-8 in the first round to Lucy Marchese and Annie Schneldman of Williams. In the consolation bracket, they were eliminated by Jen Murphy and Laura Stein of Amherst 1-8.
