Smith Tennis Loses Close Match to Babson 5-4

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers fell to visiting Babson College 5-4 in today's outdoor match-up. This brought Smith's record to 0-2 in both overall and NEWMAC competition, while Babson moved to 3-0 (2-0) on the season.

The deciding match for the day was the #3 singles. In this match, Babson's Heather Wash (Warwick, RI) defeated Smith's Seiko Fujii (Aichi, Japan). For the Pioneers, #3 doubles partners Catherine Lydecker (Conway, NH) and Alanna Dick (Winthrop, ME) improved to 2-0 on the year. Additional highlights of the day for Smith were the first collegiate victories for first years Dianna Flumefreddo (Winchester, VA) and Nikkie Anderson (Sherborn, MA) at #2 and #5 singles respectively.
