Smith Tennis Falls 7-2 to Wesleyan

Northampton, MA: The Cardinals of Wesleyan University defeated Smith 7-2 this afternoon in Northampton. With the loss, Smith dropped to 3-8 overall for the spring season while Wesleyan improved to 5-4.

Senior Seiko Fujii (Aichi, Japan) defeated Meredith Holmes (Ivy, VA) 1-6, 7-5 (10-6) at number four singles while sophomore Miyu Kikuchi (Tokyo, Japan) won by default against Anika Fischer (New York, NY) at number two singles. The other close matches of the day were at number two doubles and six singles. Doubles partners Diana Fiumefreddo (Winchester, VA) and Tina Jackson (Payson, AZ) fell 6-8 while Nikki Anderson (Sherborn, MA) dropped a close 6-4, 5-7 (2-10) decision.
