Tennis Falls to Skidmore In Spring Opener

Saratoga Springs, NY: The tennis team opened its spring season today at Skidmore College and fell to the Thoroughbreds 9-0. Seiko Fujii (Aichi, Japan) and Catherine Hill-Lydecker (Conway, NH) had the closest match of the day at number two doubles at 5-8.

Alanna Dick (Winthrop, ME) and Nikki Anderson (Sherborn, MA) teamed up at number two doubles but lost 4-8 to Laura Attley and Caroline Sherman.  The number one doubles combination of  Diana Fiumefreddo (Winchester, VA) and Miyu Kikuchi (Tokyo, Japan) dropped their match 1-8 to Rachel Loeb and Danielle Fancher.

In singles play, Fiumefreddo fell 1-6, 2-6 to Loeb; Kikuchi lost 0-6, 1-6 to Fancher; Fujii dropped her match 3-6, 1-6 to Attley; Hill-Lydecker fell 0-6, 1-6 to Jenny Grabler; Anderson lost 1-6, 2-6 to Stephanie Abrams while Dick fell 1-6, 3-6 to Sherman.

The Pioneers will host Brandeis University at 1 pm on Sunday, March 9.
