Smith Swimming & Diving Wins Ten Events to Defeat Eastern Connecticut
Northampton, MA: First year Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) and senior Marly Pineda (Bosque Farms, NM) combined for five individual first place finishes and were members of two additional winning relays to help the Pioneers defeat Eastern Connecticut 144-118 today in Willimantic, CT.
Seidman won the 200 freestyle (2:04.46), 100 free (57.03), 100 fly (1:02.38) and was the first leg of the 200 medley relay that won in 2:01.57. Pineda took the 1000 free in 11:09.72, the 200 fly in 2:21.26, finished second in the 500 free (5:38.78) and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team (4:03.91). Sophomore Rachel Dorset (Stratford, CT) was a double winner for Smith as she completed the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.47 and 200 backstroke in 2:31.51 and was also a member of the 200 medley & 400 free relays. First year Reyna Levine (Kalamazoo, MI) picked up a couple of second place finishes in the 100 breast (1:18.15) and 200 IM (2:34.20) and a third in the 200 breast (2:58.97) and was the third leg of the 200 medley relay. Francesca Kotey (Gainesville, FL) was a member of the 200 medley & 400 free relays and won the 50 free (26.84).
The Pioneers host their only meet of the first semester on Tuesday, November 13 when they host Elms College at 7 p.m.
