Freitas Takes 2nd in Three Meter Dive at NCAA Chanpionships

Northampton, MA: Smith senior, Shanti Freitas (Evanston, IL), finished second, out of twenty-two divers, yesterday afternoon in the Division III NCAA National Championship 3 meter dive.

With a final score of 507.6, Freitas was only 2.7 points away from first-place finisher Kendall Swett (509.3) of Tufts University. The performances of the top three finishers in yesterday's competition were all good enough to break the former NCAA Championship record in the 3 meter dive of 493.20.

The second-place finish earns Freitas all-American honors in the 3 meter dive.
