Freitas Finishes Sixth in 1-Meter Dive at NCAA Championship

Northampton, MA: Smith senior, Shanti Freitas (Evanston, IL), finished sixth overall, out of sixteen divers, in the 1-meter dive yesterday evening at the NCAA Championships hosted by The College of Wooster in Ohio.

Out if sixteen divers to compete at the Division III NCAA Championships in the 1-meter event, three were members of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). With a score of 429.75, and the sixth-place finish, Freitas qualifies for all-American status.

Freitas competes in the first round of the 3-meter dive this morning at 11 am, with finals to follow Saturday, March 15, also at 11 am.
