Smith Squash Falls to Wesleyan and Connecticut College
Northampton, MA: In the second day of competition at the Wesleyan University Invitational, Smith Squash was defeated by both Connecticut College (7-2) and Wesleyan University (7-2).
Against Connecticut five members of the Smith squad won games against their opponents, but only two came away with the wins. At the #7 spot, Julia Voorhees '08 (Dedham, MA), defeated Sarah Robertson '11 (South Dartmouth, MA) of Connecticut 3-1. Rachael Courington '10 (Florence, MA) took the #9 spot victory beating Casey Corn '11 (Santa Monica, CA) 3-2.
In the match versus host school Wesleyan six of the Smith players took games from the Cardinals, but only captain Kate Whitesell '08 (Easton, MD) at #1 and #9 Courington came away with wins. Whitesell defeated Casey Simchik '10 (Rye, NH) 3-2 and Courington beat Selina Tirtajana '08 (Bandung, Indonesia) 3-2 as well.
Smith Squash will be back in action Monday, December 10th as they host Amherst College at 7 pm.
