Smith Squash Takes Losses from St. Lawrence and George Washington
Northampton, MA: Smith Squash lost to St. Lawrence University 9-0 and George Washington University 9-0 in the first day of play at the Wesleyan Invitational this afternoon.
Taking on two strong Division I opponents captains Kate Whitesell '08 (Easton, MA) and Alice Reznickova '10 (Chropyne, Czech Republic) kept it close for Smith. Reznickova used a mix of shots to keep her opponent off balance to take the first game, but could not handle her opponent's power in the last three. Whitesell played a brilliant match losing by one point in the fifth and deciding game.
Smith will be back in action tomorrow as they finish out play at Wesleyan.
