Whitesell and Smyth Compete at CSA Individual Championships

Northampton, MA: Seniors Kate Whitesell (Easton, MD) and Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) competed this past weekend in the Collegiate Squash Association's (CSA) Individual Championships held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

In the first round of 64 players, Smyth's 2-9,0-9 and 2-9 loss to Laura Robinson of Mount Holyoke placed her in the consolation bracket.  She then dropped her second match of the day to Elizabeth Demakos of Wesleyan 9-6, 9-3, and 9-2.  Whitesell fell to Jennifer Imrich of Bates in the opening round 9-1, 2-9, 2-9, 2-9 and drew a bye in the first round of consolation.  She defeated Sarah Odell of Wellesley 9-4,6-9,10-9,4-9,9-5 in the quarterfinals but fell to Sally Hatfield of Middlebury 9-2, 9-0, 9-0 in the semifinals to end her competition.
