Smith Softball Wins Twice at Rebel Games

Northampton, MA: In their second day at the Rebel Games the Pioneers defeated Rutger-Camden and Bridgewater State to raise their record to 3-1. The Pioneers defeated Rutger-Camden by a score of 9-1 in five innings. Megan Kiefer went 2-3 with an RBI while Erin Quinn went 2-3 with two RBIs. Emily Hiltik picked up the win for Smith giving up only 3 hits during 5 innings of work while striking out 7. In the second game, Smith defeated Bridgewater 5-4 coming back to score 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kiefer again had a strong offensive showing, going 2-4 with the game tying RBI in the seventh. Jessie Paull then followed with an RBI single for the game winning hit. Taryn Pestalozzi contributed with 2 hits and 2 RBIs on the day. In the circle, Hiltik picked up her second win of the day as she pitched 3 strong innings of relief giving up only one hit and no runs. The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as they take on St.Benedict and Polytechnic.
