Smith Soccer Drops Tight Match to Springfield

Northampton, MA: After both teams battled for 85 minutes with the score still 0-0, Springfield College took the victory off a penalty kick by Delaney Cantrall '09 (Santa Paula, CA) at 84:49. With the loss Smith drops to 4-7-1(3-3-0), while Springfield improves to 12-2-0(5-1-0) on the season.

Smith goalkeeper, Lauren Bachtel '09 (Dublin, OH), played her first match for the Pioneers since being injured almost a month ago.  She played an outstanding match with 15 saves on the day.  Springfield keeper Sue Jenny (Agawam, MA) had 3 saves on the match.

Smith will be back in action Wednesday, October 17th as they host Clark at 3:30 pm.
