Smith Ski Team Finishes 6th in MacConnell Division; Munsey Qualifies for Regionals

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers raced to a 5th and 6th place finish at Ascutney this weekend and ended their season 6th overall in the MacConnell Divison of the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference. Sophomore Kara Munsey (Burnt Hills, NY) qualified for Regionals with her overall eighth place in the individual standings.

Munsey, who will compete at the USCSA Regionals at Waterville Valley on Feburary 23 & 24, had her best performance of the season at Ascutney as she finished 5th on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday in the two slalom races.  Senior Lindsey MacNabb (South Deerfield, MA) placed 20th in the overall standings and raced to 6th on Saturday and 12th on Sunday. Also helping the Pioneers to their 5th place finish on Saturday were senior Mikaela Larson (Providence, UT) 28th, Rebecca Houran (Laconia, NH) 55th, and Maya Wei-Haas (Tulsa, OK) 56th.

Larson placed 24th on Sunday followed by Katherine von Herrmann (Piedmont, CA) in 33rd place, Houran 53rd and Wei-Haas, 59th. von Herrmann completed the season 30th in the overall standings while Larson placed 35th.
