Ski Teams Races to 6th at MIT Carnival

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers finished 6th out of 10 teams in both the slalom and giant slalom this past weekend at Pat's Peak and Loon Mountain.

In the slalom event on Saturday held at Pat's Peak, sophomore Kara Munsey (Burnt HIlls, NY) led the Pioneers with her 7th place finish followed by senior Lindsey MacNabb (S. Deerfield, MA) who placed 19th.  Senior Mikaela Larson (Providence, UT) raced to 25th place with Katharine von Herrmann (Piedmont, CA) 52nd, Rebecca Houran (Laconia, NH) 60th, Maya Wei-Haas (Tulsa, OK) 69th. 

Munsey, 14th place,  was the top skier for Smith on Sunday in the giant slalom held at Loon Mountain. von Herrmann had a top-twenty performance with her 17th place finish followed by Larson (31st), MacNabb (34th), Ellie Baker (Norridgewock, ME) 51st, and Wei-Haas and Houran who tied for 59th.

The Pioneers will conclude their carnival season this coming weekend when they compete at the Boston College Carnival held at Ascutney, VT.
