Ski Team Competes in Season Opening Carnival

Northampton, MA: Sophomore Kara Munsey (Burnt Hills, NY)was the top skier for the Pioneers this past weekend in the opening carnival of the MacConnell Divison USCSA ski season.

In the rain-shortened event on Friday at Mt. Sunapee, New Hampshire, the Pioneers placed sixth led by Munsey who placed 17th.  Mikaela Larson (Providence, UT) finished 21st followed by Katharine Von Herrmann (Piedmont, CA) and Lindsey MacNabb (South Deerfield, MA) who had 37th and 38th place performances. Ellie Baker (Norridgewock, ME), Rebecca Houran (Laconia, NH) and Maya Wei-Haas (Tulsa, OK) raced to 60th, 66th and 74th respectively for Smith.

On Saturday, the team placed fifth with Munsey leading the way as she raced to 18th place followed by Von Herrmann (21st), Larson (29th), Baker (42nd), Houran (5oth), and Wei-Haas (55th).

Smith will compete again on Friday & Saturday, January 18 & 19 at Cranmore, New Hampshire.
