Lacrosse Takes Loss from Springfield

Northampton, MA: After Smith took a six to five lead at halftime, Springfield College was able to end the game with five unanswered goals to defeat Smith 14-8. With the loss Smith finishes the season 5-9 overall (1-5 NEWMAC), while Springfield improves to 9-6 overall (5-1 NEWMAC).

Senior, Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY), led the Pioneers in scoring with five goals on eleven shots. One of Smyth's goals came on a free position opportunity with 19:44 remaining in the first half. Carolyn Whiting '10 (South Orange, NJ) would assist Smyth on her third goal at 16:14 in the first half. Caitlin Kennedy '11 (South Hadley, MA) added two goals for Smith, while Emily Riff '08 (Wayzata, MN) had one goal on the game.

In goal for the Pioneers, Sara Smith '08 (Brooklyn, NY), faced twenty-six shots on goal and came up with 12 saves on the game. In addition, Smith led the team in ground balls with five.
