Field Hockey Falls 0-2 to Nichols College

Northampton, MA: Although the Pioneers created some excellent scoring opportunities towards the end of the match Nichols College was able to hold on for a 2-0 victory. With the loss Smith falls to 2-5 on the season, while Nichols College improves to 7-1.

At the 19:22 mark of the first half Sara Bailey '10 (Athol, MA) found the back of the net giving Nichols the 1-0 lead .  Nichols went up by two at 11:31 in the second half with a goal by Lauren Pettoruto '09 (Windham, NH).  

Courtney Murphy '11 (Florence, MA) stopped 6 shots for the Pioneers, while MaryKate Bednarz '10 (Springfield, MA) of Nichols tallied 14 saves on the night. 

Smith will be back in action on Saturday, September 29th as they host Wheaton College at 3 pm.
