Smith Field Hockey Shutout by Vassar at Seven Sisters Classic

Northampton, MA: In their second day of competition at the Seven Sisters Classic, the Pioneers fell to Vassar College 5-0. The loss dropped Smith's overall record to 0-4, while Vassar improved to 2-3 on the season.

Smith was shutout on the day despite taking 11 shots on net and earning 6 penalty corners. Katherine Simon (Waukesha, WI) and Catherine Twardy (Sherborn, MA) scored two goals apiece while Jessica Lane (Enfield, CT) chipped in with one of her own.

  Vassar goalies Taylor Herman (Flemington, NJ) and Ellie Pomerantz (Hartsdale, NY) split time for the win, making a combined 7 saves on the day. For the Pioneers, Courtney Murphy (Florence, MA) took the loss in net while making 4 saves.

  Smith returns to action Wednesday evening for a home game versus Elms College with a 7:15 start.
