Smith Equestrian Makes Strong Showing at Williams College Horseshow

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers were crowned reserve champions at the Williams College Horseshow this afternoon. The day was extra significant as two of Smith's riders qualified for the regional competition. Liz Jacobson '09 (New Fairfield, CT) for Novice Over Fences, and Sarah Maxner '10 (Norwich, VT) for Walk-Trot-Canter, both earned the required points to move onto the regional event.

Mt. Holyoke took first place at the horseshow, of the 11 teams present, with 34 points, Smith finished with 32 points, and UMass ended the day with 30 points. The Pioneers had 18 riders compete, bringing home 21 ribbons, 15 of those being in the top 4. Smith returns to action Saturday October 20th at the UMass Horseshow.
