Equestrians Finish Third at Becker Show
Northampton, MA: The Pioneers brought home twenty ribbons today from the Becker College Show, the first equestrian event of the season and junior Christine Stine (East Dover, VT) was champion of the day in the intermediate division.
The Pioneers finished third out of eleven teams with 27 points behind winner Mount Holyoke College (44 points) and UMass and host Becker who tied with 34 points.
First year Mary Bordewieck (Bernardston, MA) and sophomore Marguerite Davenport (Mill Valley, CA) brought home blue ribbons in walk, trot, canter and novice flat respectively. Red ribbons were won by Abigail Cooper (Chalfont, PA), Stine, Barrett Phillips (Goochland, VA) and Martha Maloney-Huss (Wilmington, DE). Angela Nunez (Grantsville, MD), Elizabeth Jacobson (New Fairfield, CT) and Charlotte Ballantine (Alstead, NH) won yellow ribbons with Kimberly Meskimen (Medina, MN), Stine, Morgan Brescia (Seekonk, MA), Susanna Haas (S. Acworth, NH), Abigail Cooper (Chalfont, TA), Kelly Hulyk (Milford, MA), Xiaoshuang Chen (Ningbo, China) and Grace Livingston (Lyndhurst, OH) picking up white ribbons.
The equestrian team will compete next Saturday at the Williams show.
