Equestrian Earns 21 Ribbons at Smith Show

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers claimed 21 ribbons, 13 of which were fourth place finishes or higher, at the Smith College Equestrian Show this afternoon in Northampton, MA. The University of Massachusetts was the High Point College with 43 points, while Mount Holyoke was the Reserve High Point College with 36 points. Becker College took third with 26 points, Amherst College followed in fourth with 25 points, and Smith finished fifth with 24 points.

Smith College's Morgan Brescia '11 (Seekonk, MA) took the blue ribbon in novice flat. Red ribbons were earned by Anya Bahros '11 (Norwell, MA) in walk, trot, canter and Marguerite Davenport '10 (Mill Valley, CA) in intermediate flat. White ribbon performances were given by Abigail Cooper '11 (Chalfont, PA) in open flat, Sarah Maxner '10 (Norwich, VT) and Steffi Gavin '11 (East Haddem, CT) in novice flat, and Susanna Haas '09 (S. Scworth, NH) in walk, trot, canter. Fourth place finishers were Jill Medinger '08 (Newtown, CT) in open flat, Mary Bordewieck '11 (Bernardston, MA) in novice flat, Xiaoshuanh Chen '09 (Ningbo, China) and Kelly Hulyk '10 (Milford, MA) in walk, trot, canter, and Barrett Phillips '08 (Goochland, VA) and Kathryn Mishkin '09 (Old Chatham, NY) in intermediate flat.

Smith will participate in the Regionals held at UMass Saturday, March 29th at 9 am.
