Cross Country Takes Fourth at NEWMAC Championship

Northampton, MA: Junior Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) was the women's individual champion of the 2007 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross-Country Championship held today in the rain on Smith's 5,000m course. Youngs crossed the finish line in 19:09.80 and earned Runner of the Year honors with her performance.

The Pioneers finished fourth in the race with 118 points behind winner MIT (50 points), Wheaton (72 points), Wellesley (106 points) and in front of Mount Holyoke (124), Springfield (137), Coast Guard (164), Clark (204), WPI (257) and Babson 263).  Sophomore Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA) finished second for Smith in 7th place (19:50.20) and earned All Conference honors.  Senior Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, MA) placed third for the Pioneers and 27th overall (20:28.30) followed by Sari Field (Nutley, NJ) 41st overall in 21:28.30 and Stephanie Strenta (Hanover, NH) 42nd overall (21:28.30).
