Crew Races at Head of the Riverfront

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers opened their 2007 season at the Head of the Riverfront this past Sunday in Hartford, Connecticut. Smith raced three eights and a four on the 2.5 mile course upstream through the city of Hartford.

The Pioneers finished 5th out of nine teams in the First Collegiate 8 race with a time of 17:24.3900 behind UConn, Coast Guard and two boats from Trinity.  Smith entered two crews in the Second Collegiate 8 race and placed fourth and sixth with respective times of 17:24.0233 and 17:40.4033 while the Collegiate 4 finished 6th out of 12 teams in 18:12.7267.

The Smith crews will race again on the weekend of October 20-21 when they compete in the Pumpkin Novice Regatta and the Head of the Charles in Boston.
