Novice Eight Takes First in Worcester
Northampton, MA: Smith crew had a solid day of racing against Williams, Trinity, Holy Cross, Connecticut, and Mount Holyoke today in Worcester, MA.
The varsity eight placed third out of three teams with a time of 7:23.2 behind Mount Holyoke (7:14.3) and Trinity (6:54.3). The boat looks forward to taking on Mount Holyoke next Saturday at the New England Women's and Men's (NEWMAC) Championship.
The second varsity eight placed third out of four teams behind Williams (6:55.0) and Trinity 6:56.5) with a time of 7:13.1. Mount Holyoke (7:27.4) trailed in fourth.
The third varsity eight placed second out of five finishing with a time of 7:41.4 ahead of Trinity (7:46.9), Holy Cross (7:56.7), Mount Holyoke (8:00.7), but behind Williams (7:16.3).
The novice eight placed first out of five boats with a time of 7:12.0. Holy Cross (7:13.2), Mount Holyoke (7:14.1), and Trinity (7:34.7) were to follow.
Lastly, the varsity four placed fourth out of four teams (8:14.2) behind Holy Cross (8:02.4), Trinity (8:09.4), and Connecticut (8:13.4).
Smith will participate in the NEWMAC Championship next Saturday, April 19 in Worcester, MA.
