Smith Basketball Drops Season Opener to Emmanuel College

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers lost a tough season opener to Emmanuel College 79-41 at the 24th annual Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Meredith Murelli '09 (Litchfield, CT) led the Pioneers with 10 points and 9 rebounds.  Lisa Marie Vuono '10 (Lyndhurts, NJ) added 6 points for Smith, while Laura Miller '11 (Minneapolis, MN) had the game high in rebounds with 10.  Jade Paez '08 (Bronx, NY) of Emmanuel led all players with 15 points, as teammate Casey Shelvin '11 (Medford, NY) dished out the game high 8 assists.

Smith will play Moravian College in the tournament consolation game on Sunday, November 18th at 11 am.
