Smith Basketball Falls to Mount Holyoke 47-46

Northampton, MA: After defeating Mount Holyoke 63-48 early this season in Northamton, Smith fell to the Lyons 47-46 this afternoon in Hadley. With the loss the Pioneers fall to 4-17 on the season and 2-9 in NEWMAC play, while Mount Holyoke improves to 5-17 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

Berit Schelde '10 (Holstebro, Denmark) led Smith in scoring with 12 points.  Anna Veltri '11 (W. Milford, NJ) scored 11 points for the Pioneers.  Leading Smith in rebounds was Lisa Marie Vuono '10 (Lyndhurst, NJ) with 12 on the game.  Erin Cain of Mount Holyoke led all scorers with 16 points, while her teammate Marisa Barone pulled down 14 boards for the game's high. 

Smith will be back in action February 20th as they travel down to Springfield for a 7 pm game.
