Smith Basketball Takes Loss from Coast Guard 59-43

Northampton, MA: Basketball drops to 3-8 on the season and 1-1 in the NEWMAC as Coast Guard Academy defeated Smith 59-43 this afternoon in New London. Coast Guard improves to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the NEWMAC.

Berit Schelde '10 (Holstebro, Denmark) led Smith in scoring with 16 points, while also contributing 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Lisa Marie Vuono '10 (Lyndhurst, NJ) led all players in rebounds pulling down 17 boards to go along with 7 points and 3 steals.   

Smith will be back in action Monday, January 14th as the Pioneers host Thomas College at 5:30 pm.
