Smith Athletes Receive All Conference And Academic All Conference Honors

Northampton, MA: Junior Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) heads up a list of twenty-five Smith athletes who have received New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All Conference and/or Academic All Conference honors in their respective fall sports. Youngs, who garnered Runner of the Year accolades by winning the women's race in the NEWMAC Cross Country Championship, was also named to the Academic All Conference team.

Teammate Anna Cressotti '10 (Southampton, MA) made her second appearance on the Cross Country All Conference team by her top 14 finish at the championship and also received Academic All Conference recognition. 

Senior outside hitter Catherine Shafer (Red Bluff, CA) and sophomore outside hitter Mikal Minarich (Hobart, IN) were voted onto the Volleyball All Conference First and Second teams respectively while soccer goalkeeper Lauren Bachtel '09 (Dublin, OH) and sophomore defender Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) received Soccer All Conference second team honors.

Field hockey players Mary Kate Long (Boylston, MA), Lauren Pierce (Asheville, NC), Talia Williams (Montpelier, VT) and Margaret Winter (Purchase,NY); soccer players Molly Chidester (Elkton, MD), Caitlin Colman-McGaw (Manchester, CT), Grover-Silva, Janine Olthuis (Cavan, Ontario, Canada) and Nicole Widger (Clarksville, MD); volleyball athletes Brianne Connizzo (Demarest, NJ) and Allison Jones (Winsted, CT), tennis players Seiko Fujii (Aichi, Japan), Vida Chen (San Jose, CA), and Catherine Hill-Lydecker (Conway, NH) as well as cross-country runners Alison Cloutier (East Hampton, CT), Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA), Meredith Jones (Ridgewood, NJ), Leonora Pepper (Arlington, MA), Rebecca Staples-Moore (Concord, MA) and Emily Yen (Potomac, MD) were all placed on their respective sports teams Academic All Conference team for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.
