Sophomore Racing Duo Lindsey McNabb and Mikaela Martineau Compete in Regionals
MacNabb Qualifies for the USCSA National Championship

Sophomore Lindsey MacNabb (S. Deerfield, MA) traveled to Waterville Valley, New Hampshire on Saturday to compete in the USCSA Regionals.  MacNabb, no stranger to the course at Waterville Valley, placed 14th in Giant Slalom and 13th in the slalom thereby qualifying for the USCSA National Championships to be held at Sugarloaf, Maine on March 7-12.  MacNabb was also named to the All-Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Team in GS, Slalom and Combined.

Sophomore Mikaela Martineau (Providence, UT) traveled to Middleburry, Vermont Friday morning to compete in the NCAA –EISA Regionals.  Amidst blizzard-like conditions, Martineau started the Giant Slalom in the 52nd position, skiing well enough to finish in 38tth place among arguably the best collegiate racers in the nation.  On Saturday, single-digit temperatures, wind and more snow greeted Martineau as she raced in the slalom.  Starting in the 41st position, Martineau braved the icy and rock-hard surface to claim a top 30 finish.  “Mikaela did really, really well.  In fact, she had the best two-day performance of any Smith racer I have seen take on the ‘big dogs’ at Middlebury,” said assistant coach John Risely.

While Martineau’s season will come to a close, MacNabb’s will continue March 7-12 at Sugarloaf, Maine as she tries to break into the top ten in the Giant Slalom and Slalom.
