Lacrosse Falls to Babson 16-4

Babson Park, MA: In today’s New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference match-up with Babson College, the Pioneers fell 16-4.  With the loss, the Pioneers are currently 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.  The Beavers improve to 8-3 and 2-0 in the conference.

The Beavers came out attacking early, scoring seven unanswered goals to begin the game.  Anita Martignetti was the driving force behind the Beavers, scoring three goals during their rally.  With 14:21 left in the first half, senior Elizabeth Nickle (Wilmington, DE) scored the first Pioneer goal of the game.  However, the Beavers retaliated, scoring five more goals before junior Susan Parke-Sutherland (Colombia, MO) scored the second Pioneer goal at with 1:12 remaining in the first half, giving the Beavers a half time score of 12-2. 

The Beavers went on the score four additional goals in the second half.  Smith was led by Nickle, who scored her second goal at 28:40 in the second half.  Senior Anna Lee Harris (Saxtons River, VT) also scored with 25:04 remaining on the clock.  Sophomore Sara Smith (Brooklyn, NY) went the distance in the net for the Pioneers, finishing with 14 saves.

The Pioneers are back in action this Tuesday, April 11th, when they travel to face NEWMAC rival Springfield College.  Game time is schedule for 7pm.
