Track and Field Compete in the New England III Championships

Medford, MA: The Pioneers totaled 8 team points and finished 17th out of 22 teams at the New England III Championships held at Tufts University this afternoon. Williams was the champion with 154 points, followed by Tufts (122.33), Amherst (66), Bowdoin (52), and Brandeis (48).

Senior thrower Katie Walters-Krohn (Minneapolis, MN) was the high scorer for the Pioneers, tallying 6 of the team’s 8 points. Walters-Krohn finished 6th in both the Shot Put (11.85m) and Weight Throw (13.73m). Distance runner Liz Kelly (Storrs, CT) also added 2 points of her own as she finished 7th in the 5000m Run with a time of 18:17.48. Other participants for the Pioneers included Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) and McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA) in the 55m Dash, Sue Jensen (Saxons River, VT) in the Pole Vault, and Caitlin Ritchie (Meriden, CT) joined Sharff, Jensen, and Edwards in the 800m Relay.

The Pioneers are back in action again February 24-25 as they compete in the Open New England Championships.
