Equestrian Finishes 4th at MHC Horse Show

Holyoke, MA: The Pioneers finished 4th out of 10 teams at today’s horse show held at Mount Holyoke College. Mount Holyoke was the high point champion, finishing with 41 points, followed by Becker College (27 points), UMASS (26 points), Smith (24 points), Amherst (23 points), and Williams (16 points).

Many Pioneers rode well, including Susan MacLauchlan (Somers, CT) who was the Reserve Champion Novice High Point Rider for the day. In addition, three Pioneers qualified for regionals: Michaela LeBlanc (Cotuit, MA), Kim Meskimen (Medina, MN), and Emily Hertz (Brattleboro, VT). Hertz actually qualified in both of her events for the day.

Taking home blue ribbons for the Pioneers were LeBlanc, Hertz, and Jessica Willis (Ridgefield, CT). Second place finishers included Kate Mishkin (Old Chatham, NY), MacLauchlan, and Hertz. In addition, Lorena Passi (Wappingers Falls, NY), Meskimen, LeBlanc, Layne Chaya (Berwick, PA), MacLauchlan, Jill Medinger (Newton, CT), and Christy McKenzie (Trumansburg, NY) all finished in third place.

The Pioneers will ride again next Saturday, March 11 at the Amherst Show.
