 Smith Equestrians Take Fourth at Amherst Show

Amherst, MA:  The Pioneers finished in fourth place today with 25 points at the Amherst College Horse Show and ended the season in third place in the region. Mount Holyoke College was the High Point College at today’s show tallying 44 points followed by UMASS with 34 and Williams with 27.

             Junior Amanda Downing (Cardiff By the Sea, CA) qualified for Regionals in novice fences for the Pioneers and teammate Kimberly Meskimen (Old Chatham, NY) qualified in intermediate flat. The Pioneers, who will host Regionals on Saturday, April 1, will send thirteen riders to the event.

            Blue ribbons were won today by Emily Hertz (Brattleboro, VT) and alumnae Christy MacKenzie.  Michaela LeBlanc (Cotuit, MA), Hertz and Solana Schiller (Southampton, MA) all took second places while Downing, Kristyn Hall (Newtown, OH) and Susan MacLaughlan (Somers, CT) all finished in third place.
