With the win, the Blue improve to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the NEWMAC.  Smith is currently 5-12 overall and 0-7 in NEWMAC play.

The first half showcased excellent defense by Wellesley, as they held the Pioneers to only 15 points.  The Blue applied pressure early, causing 27 turnovers and totaling 24 defensive rebounds on the night.  Offensively, the Blue was lead by Kristin Doeberl (West Redding, CT) who totaled 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals.  Also leading the low scoring affair for the Blue was Laura Weslander (Mendota Heights, MN) and Sefi Adasi (Rockville, MD) each with 11 and 9 points, respectively.

Although the Blue applied early pressure, the Pioneers outscored their opponents 21-20 in the second half.  Sophomore Ashley Sutton (Greenfield, MA) led all Pioneers with 7 points and also grabbed 2 rebounds.  First year Rose Baldwin (S. Strattford, VT) also added 6 points and 2 rebounds of her own.  Junior Helena Charron (Pittsfield, NH) lead the defensive attack, grabbing a team high 8 rebound and also adding 5 points.  Senior forward Shelley Harrison (Reston, VA), who is leading the conference in blocks, added another 4 on the night, giving her a season total of 62.  Harrison also pulled down 5 rebounds.
