Etta Grover-Silva Wins Pole Vault Event at New England III Championships

Northampton, MA: In their last game of the season, the Smith College lacrosse team defeated New England College 14-9 this afternoon in Northampton. With the victory, Smith ended the season 6-10 overall while the Pilgrims fell to 5-8 overall.First year Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) became the New England Division III Champion in the pole vault this afternoon with a vault of 11' 1 3/4" at the 2007 New England Division III Track & Field Championships held at Springfield College.

Other top ten performances were given by senior Shayla Livingston (Sharon, VT) who finished sixth out of twenty-nine competitors in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.12; Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) who placed fifth out of seventeen in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:40.29 and Sienna Boyd (Ipswich, MA) who was seventh out of fifteen in the high jump, 4' 11 1/2".
