Crew Takes Fourth in Women's Division of New England Rowing Championships
Northampton, MA: The Pioneers rowed to fourth place out of seventeen crews in the women's division of the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday in Worcester. Williams won the women's point trophy with 84 points, followed by Holy Cross (82), Trinity (72), and Smith with 56. NEWMAC opponents Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, Coast Guard, WPI and Clark finished sixth, seventh, eleventh, fifteenth, sixteenth respectively.
The varsity eight finished third (6:52.494) in
its heat behind Trinity and Bates which placed them in the petite final
where they finished second to Coast Guard (7:08.592) and eighth overall
in a time of 7:13.151. The second varsity 8 finished 5th in their
heat (7:21.801) and tenth overall while the novice eight placed third
in its heat and fifth overall (7:30.093) behind Mount Holyoke,
Williams, UVM and Holy Cross. The crew team will race again this
weekend at the ECAC National Invitational in Worcester.
