Track & Field Compete in New England Indoor Championship


Boston, MA:  The University of Connecticut walked away with this year’s New England Indoor Championship with a team total of 153 points.  Northeastern was close behind with 107.50 points, followed by Providence College (58), Williams College (51), and Boston University (43).  The Pioneers finished 30th with a total of .75 points.

The lone point-scorer of the day was first-year team member Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) who finished 7th in the Pole Vault (3.12 m).  Her performance earned her a spot on the All New England Conference Team.

Although Grover-Silva was the only point scorer, senior co-captain Shayla Livingston (Sharon, VT) had a personal best in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.84.  Senior co-captain McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA) broke the school record in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 26.12.  Sharff also finished with a time of  7.39 in the 55 Meter Dash to earn a spot in the semi-finals. 

The Pioneers will compete again next weekend in the ECAC Championships held at Wesleyan University.
