Track Competes in ECAC Indoor Championships; Sharff Qualifies for Nationals

Middletown, CT: The Pioneers finished 27th overall at the 2007 ECAC Division III Indoor Track Championships held at Wesleyan University.  St. Lawrence (48) won the title, followed by Cabrini (45), Frostburg State (42), Williams (41), and RIT (40).  There were 56 total teams.

Senior McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA) finished second (7.25) in the 55 Meter Dash preliminaries, securing her a place in the finals and more importantly, a place at the NCAA Division III National Championships. Sharff, currently tied for 13th in the country, will compete in the 55m dash at the National Championships to be held March 9-10 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.  In the finals she finished fourth overall with a time of 7.38.  First year Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) was also a fourth-place finisher in the Pole Vault (3.37m).  Smith’s 4x200 Meter Relay team, composed of Sharff, Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ), Caitlin Ritchie (Meriden, CT), and Shayla Livingston (Sharon, VT), recorded their best time this season with a 1:50.90 finish.

Next up on the indoor schedule is the NCAA Championships, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, IN.
