MA: The Pioneers fell to Vassar this morning and Mount Holyoke
this afternoon with identical 5-0 scores to finish in fifth place at
the 2007 Seven Sisters Tennis Championship held at Mount Holyoke in
South Hadley.
Catherine Lydecker (Conway,. NH) and Kate Johnson (Auburn, KS) lost a heartbreaker against Mount Holyoke at number one doubles 7-5, 7-6(13-11) while Miyu Kikuchi (Tokyo, Japan) almost pulled out the win but fell 6-4, 7-6(7-3). Wellesley won its third consecutive title defeating Vassar 3-2 to end the tournament with 18 points. Vassar finished second with 17 points, Mount Holyoke third with nine, Bryn Mawr and Smith finished fourth and fifth respectively. Smith vs. Vassar Doubles #1 Elysa Kliman/Krista Romita def.
